Well Hello there ...

This is my photo (and video and map) collection. I hope you enjoy. Please feel free to add comments. I appreciate photos of natural things, of friends gathering together and of my family. I use a 2010 Nikon D90 with 18-105 f/3.5 - 5.6G ED VR lens with a wireless remote, OR my 2002 Nikon Coolpix 995 with a wired remote trigger and an 8X telescope lens, a tripod, a monopod, or table top tripod. I also use Photoshop to balance color, contrast, create sepia tones, etc.

In May 2010 I added a waterproof camera - an Olympus Stylus Tough 6020. It captures high resolution photo and video .. even the sound under water is awesome in the video. This version is waterproof to 16 ft.

In December 2010 I added a Nikon D90 with 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens and wireless remote trigger. It captures awesome hi res multiple frame per second imagery and it captures HD video as well. I am going back soon to pick up the add-on GPS unit and will later add a better wildlife zoom lens.

Maps in the Belize Project gallery are create using either Esri's ArcGIS Ver.s 9.3 or 10.0 or ITTVis' ENVI EX Ver. 4.8 software. And on occasion a map image may be enhanced in Adobe's Creative Suite 3 Photoshop or Illustrator.

Gay's Patio Renovation : In the Summer and Fall of 2010 several member's of Gay's extended family worked together to renovate her patio into a renewed sun room and reading room. Son, Doug, friends Ed, Don, son-in-law, Scott, daughter Pam and Scott's parents, Nancy and Step-dad Eddie, all worked to tear down to the bones, rebuild, seal, refinish, furnished and decorated the room - some of which was a surprise to Gay. Belize Project & Study : This is a gallery of images from my trips to a small private island in Belize where my students and I are studying the near-pristine reef environment. This, by the way, is the location of the December 2008 Wedding Ceremony. Thus the pictures in that gallery and the pictures here compliment each other and are of the same location. The images, the posters, the maps and all the data were collected, created and otherwise stewarded by the students. Long Caye after Richard : These photos are captured by Ruth and Karel, our friends at Huracan Diving (www.huracandiving.com). It seems they stayed on the caye for the storm and following the storm but before it go too dark they captured these images. Thankfully they are alright and the damage is chiefly to the flora with all buildings still standing and appearing in tact. This information is merely passed on to share with you thanks to Drew Stephens of the GIS Institute (http://thegisinstitute.org/) sending it to me once he received it from Ruth. As for our science and the recovery of the caye; what field methods can be applied to measure, analyze and then map the effect of a storm upon this type of landmass, shoreline and flora? Given our recent studies this recent storm event demonstrates the importance of our data; we now have a baseline to offer anyone seeking to measure the effects of this storm. Thank you.
